Quick and Easy Birthday Card
In honor of this very exciting event (turning one is a huge milestone, even for a magazine!) I whipped up this super easy birthday card using only items found in my crafting stash.
The first step is to take a piece of 8.5×11 cardstock in any solid color, cut it in half so that you have two pieces at 8.5x 5.5. Take one piece and fold it in half.
Grab some coordinating patterned paper and cut a strip for the front of your card. Mine is 5.5 x 2 inches. Adhere it to your cardstock.
I always like to add some sort of embellishment to a project. This one is very simple but gives me that little something extra that I felt I needed. I dug through my scrap paper bin and found a little piece of cardstock that coordinated with both my other paper choices. I used a square punch to create the 1.5 x 1.5 square. Or you could just use your handy dandy paper trimmer. The circle in the center is actually a large brad by Making Memories’ 5th Avenue collection. Instead you might want to use a button or a flower or even a small photo.
Now things are coming together. I adhered my little square embellishment and next to it, I stamped “celebration” in black ink. When it was all said and done, I still felt like it still needed a little something else to really look “finished.” I took a black Zig pen and lightly drew a line along the outside edge of the plain cardstock. I’m happy with the finished look, it’s clean, simple…not overdone, but still bright and cheerful. Happy Birthday Peekaboo!
